Facilitating Movement and Improving
Function in Adult Hemiplegia:
an NDT based approach
Approved for PTs & PTAs
See list of states
This excellent 2-day course is packed with practice labs, functional treatment ideas and patient videos in the acute care, rehab, SNF, and outpatient settings.
Jan’s enthusiastic teaching style encourages participants to practice specific facilitation methods of trunk, upper and lower extremity control which are based on NDT and motor learning principles.
Most importantly, Jan provides current evidence to support her treatment ideas.
Extensive course handouts optimize your class time - focus more on practice and less on note taking.
Topics Include:
-
Evidence to support treatment
-
Rx videos from ICU to outpatient
-
Motor Learning and NDT
-
Practice labs!
-
The hemiplegic shoulder
-
Treating the ‘poorly motivated’ patient
- Documentation tips
While the workshop is appropriate for any therapist, the value can be enhanced by having some knowledge of NDT or viewing the video series in advance of the course. AOTA defines the level of the course as 'intermediate', for therapists with a working knowledge of therapeutic methods related to stroke rehabilitation.
